The Child Welfare Services Expert Witness ProgramThe frequency of legal action against child welfare staff and agencies is increasing. Suits involving questions of malpractice; malfeasance; negligence and civil rights have become a common challenge with which public child welfare agencies have to contend. This apparent growing phenomenon has increased the need for expert services that contributes to the formation of legal strategy and provides definitive, convincing professional opinions. Periodically associates with ACTION for Child Protection have responded to requests for expert liability and risk management services for over twenty years. With the apparent growing need for such expertise, we now offer the Child Welfare Services Expert Witness Program which makes available the organization’s full resources and established experts to attorneys, law firms and legal professionals representing child welfare agencies and child welfare services staff. ACTION for Child Protection is a private non profit. Annually the organization provides consultation, training and technical assistance services nationally to public child welfare agencies. ACTION is the parent organization for the National Resource Center for Child Protective Services. The Child Welfare Services Expert Witness Program offers:
Consistent with ACTION’s longstanding commitment to public state and local child welfare agencies, experts provided as part of this program are available only to public child welfare agencies and attorneys who represent them. The ExpertsThe associates with ACTION are experts by virtue of their education, training, skill, and experience. They possess knowledge in all aspects of child welfare services sufficient to be officially and legally relied upon by attorneys representing child welfare agencies. These experts provide specialized and technical program and case practice opinion about evidence or facts consistent with the scope of their expertise and the state of the art. These experts have provided direct services; developed and managed intervention programs; supervised cases; and directed child welfare agencies.
